Browsing and keeping the website secure

Your browser supplies technical information such as an IP address, requested address, request time, browser information and, where supplied, a referring page. The hosting and security services use this information to deliver pages, prevent abuse and investigate faults. This processing supports our legitimate interests in operating a reliable and secure website.

The site does not currently run optional analytics, advertising or social-media embeds. Book purchases are not available. You can browse without providing your name or email. Contact enquiries use the form described below.

Contacting us

If you use our contact form or email info@claramaebooks.com, we process your email address, message, chosen topic and any name you provide to acknowledge and answer your enquiry. Please include only what is needed; do not send payment-card information, sensitive personal information or children’s personal details.

Handling general enquiries is based on our legitimate interests in responding to readers and business contacts. Requests about a proposed contract may involve steps taken at your request before a contract; privacy and other legal requests may require processing to meet legal obligations. Contact-form records are encrypted in the application store and available only to authorised Yasa personnel.

Cookies and your choices

Cookie settings remembers the choice you request on this browser for up to 180 days. It contains category choices and time/version information, without your name or email, and is not sent to us as a customer record. Each optional category shows your saved choice as Allowed or Off. Saving a choice does not by itself activate an undisclosed service.

Hosting, service providers and transfers

The site runs on Yasa’s Nexus hosting infrastructure using Hetzner hosting and Cloudflare delivery/security services. Authorised operators and these infrastructure providers can process technical information needed for their services. Clara’s email and form delivery run on Yasa Nexus. Enquiries are delivered to info@claramaebooks.com, with an acknowledgement sent to the address you supply. Delivery also involves your chosen email provider.

Cloudflare operates a global network, so infrastructure processing may involve locations outside the EEA. Its privacy information describes international processing and transfer safeguards. These provider notices supplement this notice; they do not replace Yasa’s responsibilities.

No payment provider is used by this website. External retailers operate their own services and privacy notices.

How long information is kept

Your browser privacy choice expires after 180 days and can be reset sooner. The current website server configuration rotates ordinary web logs weekly and retains four rotated files alongside the current log. Security incident records may need to be retained longer to investigate an incident or establish or defend legal claims. Infrastructure providers maintain their own service/security records.

Contact-form records expire after 180 days and are removed by scheduled cleanup. Duplicate-request records are kept for seven days and rate-limit records for up to 30 minutes. Related email correspondence is kept as needed for the enquiry, necessary follow-up, applicable legal duties or unresolved disputes. Contact us to ask about the retention or deletion of a particular message. Resetting browser choices does not delete correspondence, server logs or records held by another provider.

Your rights and how to ask

Where applicable, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. Send requests to info@claramaebooks.com; we may need proportionate information to verify your identity.

You may complain to Finland’s Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman or another competent data protection authority.

Children and automated decisions

The books are for children, but the contact form and privacy controls are intended for parents, carers and other adult visitors. We do not invite children to submit personal information. Ask us to review any child’s personal information sent in error.

This book website does not use personal data to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Security systems may automatically block suspicious traffic. We will update this notice before introducing materially different processing, a sales service or optional tracking.
